Commentary
(In the meantime) to delight him (Duryodhana) the mighty
Grandfather (Pitamah: Bhisma – Commander of Kauravs’ army) roaring aloud like a
lion, blew his Conch (Shankh – शङ्ख). Blowing Conch was symbol of Salute for the War. (Shloka 12)
With this many Conches (Shankha),
Kettle – Drums (Bherya), Cymbals (Panwa), Double – Drums (Anak)
and Trumpets (Gomukha) were sounded together
and the tumulus voice of these (musical) instruments resonated everywhere. (Shloka 13)
